Just a realization

I haven't read fanfiction in weeks! I know - shock, gasp, oh NO. And the funny thing about it is that I can't remember what I was doing. I HAD to have been doing something to distract me away from peaking through the yahoo groups and livejournal postings that continually pop up in my email. I did notice that there were tons of Harry/Cedric fiction posted last month. And did I read any of them? NO. Do I still love Harry/Cedric or Harry/Ron? Hell YES.

So what was I doing?!!!!

[EDIT] Oh OH. I was creating layouts on my new computer. THAT'S what i was doing! lol. Totally forgot

On a side note though not unrelated to the venting above, I just finished the new layout for Bittersweet Symphony. Absolutely beautiful I must say. I ahven't uploaded it to the site yet, but I added something to the navigation. It's the current projects section where I list one latest project of Daniel Radcliffe and Robert Pattinson's. This is as "shrine-ish" as it's going to get though. I don't want my fansite to be about the actors, but I thought it would be nice to include them a little bit. You will not be seeing any galleries in the future so you can relax, or well, I can relax. lol.

I'd just like to say that I love Gimp, but I did notice that the images don't come out as CLEAN as when they're manipulated using Photoshop. Hm.

Revamping in motion

Well, I've finally gotten started on the revamping, my blog being the first to get a new look. I haven't changed the layout or anything because I still haven't gotten my new computer - well, actually I did get it but the fucker was defective so I had to make arrangements with Dell to send me another one . . . a story I'd rather avoid because it only pisses me off.

Ok. So, no new layouts right now. I did, however, re-format the navigation. I got rid of some links, shifted things around a bit, and put my friends in a drop down menu. There is only 1 navigation now instead of my usual 2. Which means that I had to update the skins too. So those are back up and running smoothly.

I also made some room for Twilight. Look at my SOTM and the webmistress section. What can I say . . . I'm not sure if this will be anything like Harry Potter - websites galore - but it was a great read and so I'm allowed to pimp it. lol. Especially with the movie right around the corner. Woohoo!

I'm still revamping this site, but you'll know the changes when you see them. And so now I'm off to finish IR, because I've promised myself to get back up next month. Wish me luck :-)

Twilight Series

This is currently my new obsession. I wasn't sure I'd be able to find anything like Harry Potter - you know, something that would keep my interest long enough to read all the books in the series. Well, I've found it.

It started with a movie preview and boy did it progress! Not only was I like, "Hey there's Cedric Diggory on the telly!" - well, okay. Maybe I didn't say that excatly. It was more like, "yo, ain't that Cedric?" but you get the gist. Anyway, apparently Robert Pattinson is starring in a new film called Twilight. I never heard of it, of course, but damn is it popular. I was curious and decided to read it. Then the next day I went out and bought the 2nd book and well, I bought the 3rd one this morning.

So it's safe to say that I love it. Yes. very much so. It's nothing like Harry Potter, but just as fascinating. And I've never been into the vampire/werewolf genre, but damn is it good. Except of course in 2nd book where Bella really got on my nerves. And God! I really really love Jacob. I have a feeling there's going to a be a triangle there . . . . and I just don't know who I like more. Sad, really. Jacob or Edward? Jacob or Edward? I don't know!!!!

I may like it enough to give it a subject in my blog . . . hm. This is so exciting!

Things to do, things to do

It's been quite awhile obviously. I'm currently on vacation and I've definitely been thinking about my lack of webbing lately as I was telling Joy. Hi Joy!!

I will be closing 2 of my sites. Both are web directories. It hurts to have to do this, but I figured that I really needed and wanted to concentrate on what means the most - to concentrate on my passion. So, unfortunately those need to go. Whether I will completely delete them or hand them off to someone who will want to run it, I guess depends on who responds. I doubt anyone will since there is nothing special about them. But whatever.

I will then finish revamping IR so that I can get that back up and running. It will take some time - I know this. I'm not in denial or anything. lol.

I then need to start updating BS because that's my baby and I miss working on it.

and then I will start adding layouts to MC - another babyof mine.

So, yea. lot of things to do. Pray for me!

Have you heard? Gary Dourdan aka Warrick Brown is said to be leaving CSI . . . for good.

First he was picked up on drug possession, but now it turns out his contract is expiring in May and that he won't be renewing it.

I just want to scream. NOT MY WARRICK! He's the reason I watch CSI. Just a glimpse of him - doesn't matter how small - sets my blood on FIYA! He can't leave. That would be terrible.

There are hardly any black actors on the damn show as it is - and definitely none that are cute.

Man. This sucks! This just ruined my whole day.

Paradigm of Uncertainty

Has anyone read this series? I'm sure that if you have been in the Harry Potter fandom for awhile, you certainly have. It's probably the only Het story that I plan to read to the very end.

Anyway, on the yahoo group, Lori told everyone that there was a possibility that updates would slow or not come at all, etc etc. A lot of readers had heart attacks and a lot of them didn't (I was one of those who didn't). But you wouldn't believe the comments that were left . . . Now being a fanfiction writer, I'm personally offended and I want to give Lori a hug (but I can't because I'm a big ass lurker) because how dare they bash her for doing such a thing - like having a life doesn't matter because she has an obligation to finish a WIP. I mean, damn, we're not paying her. It's a hobby for christ's sake!

Now there's someone on there saying that they will finish the series and shower it with the attention that it deserves. Can you say ouch. I'm sorry - no one can finish the series but Lori and if I have to wait 15 years for my ending, then damnit, that's what I'm going to do. Not to say that said person isn't a great writer (I don't know since I haven't read anything he/she wrote), but don't you think that's a little rude? Telling Lori, that the ball is in her court? I'm just baffled.

I'm too disgusted to read anymore of it.

And just for the record, it's not even that damn serious! Shit happens. Some stories are left unfinished. Let it go people.

Okay, so as a follow up to my last post .... I did put IR on hiatus. I'm going to move everything over to fanupdate. This I found to be so kool because now one fic can be in more than one category, which was never an option on SimpleDir.

It looks so much cleaner. I only have 50 recs moved over ... with 450 more to go. Oh god.

I haven't started working on a new layout, but I'm thinking about taking down the site skin option. Seeing as I want to change the site name to just "Immortalitas" I'm going to need to. I'm really going to miss that Harry/Draco one, though, and it sucks because I can't upload it to Magical Coupling because the fanart isn't mine. damn. This is why I'm still deciding if I'm even going to do this. I do't like throwing things away.

All Play, No Work

So I've been a bit MIA in the Harry Potter world. I haven't worked on any of my sites in weeks and that's unusual. I realized this when I added a site to one of my directories today . . . Btw, she emailed it in to be added. So no work on my part was actually included. All because of this new obession of mine, this damn FFVII.

I use the term "damn FFVII" out of love, of course.

I'm in the process of reading this hella-long fic right now. It's so friggin' good and it's only the 2nd fic I've read in this fandom. That's pretty damn good as a newcomer. It usually takes awhile to come across all the classics. I was lucky. The only iffy thing about the fic is that it's become really romantic/sappy/mushy and it's a bit odd considering it's a Sephiroth/Cloud pairing. But then again, the bulk of the story is so dark that it's a nice change. So, I guess it evens out. I only have 7 more chapters to read, which isn't a lot, but they are each ridiculously long so there's no telling when I'll actually finish reading it.

I should be working on my Harry/Cedric fic and I should definitely update the site, but I haven't done anything. Quite sad. I'm hoping that this new obsession will eventually mellow out to the point where I can share my time with the other obsessions, but it doesn't seem to be doing that anytime soon.

*sighs*

I've even created it's own Category in my blog . . .

New obsession

So I have a new obsession. I ordered Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children from Netflix and now I'm friggin' hooked. Great movie. Great fighting. Interestign back story. It makes me want to play the game. I only have playstation so that works. I have FFVIII, but I haven't finished playing it. I never really got into it. The role-playing thing just wasn't something I found interesting. I got more into what was going on between the characters than winning any of the fights. I would purposely lose just to see what they would say to each other, lol. If I had known that the more levels I reached the more of the story got revealed then I probably would've "tried" a little harder. ah well. So that's on my to do list. Once my father mails me my stuff I'll finish the FFVIII game and go out and get the FFVII one too.

Right now I'm reading a FFVII yaoi with Sephiroth/Cloud. It's great. Trust me. I'm in love again. Don't you just love that feeling?

Did anyone hear that the last Harry Potter film will be released in 2 parts?? They're saying that although the movies have grossed millions at the box office, the decision is purely for artistic rather than financial reasons. They say that so much happens in the last book, including the confrontation between Voldemort and Harry, that it needs to be done very well.

I tried to find out how they were going to do this. Are they going to pull and LoTR and release part 1 and then release part 2 one year after? I couldn't find out anything, so let me know if you guys hear anything else :-)

Follow up to last post . . .

So, I haven't written anything for the new year and here's where you find out why. In case, you haven't read my last post, I got unexpectedly interested in the Sailor Moon Live Action series. Well, I went and brought it . . .

I joined ebay and purcahsed it for $32.99 which is pretty damn good. I have all 49 episodes, but I'm only up to 43.

I do have to say that it's absolutely fantastic! It's very different from the anime, seeing as it's mostly based on the manga. Usagi isn't some clumsy ditz who whines through every battle. I mean, she's still clumsy, but she does actually do homework (though not very well), she's not lazy, and she can fight. She's not annoying like in the anime - which is probably why I like the live action more.

Mamoru is really cute too. And I don't get the feeling that he dislikes Usagi. In the anime his teasing goes a litte too far at times, but in the live action, you can see the attraction immediately and his teasing is more playful banter than actual insults. He calls her a fool most of the time but it's out of love. It's so adorable. Rei and Mamoru never date (thank god) and Rei and Usagi don't fight like cats and dogs. I like Rei so much more in this series.

I already have my favorite episodes because some of them are just too damn funny, but overall I'm very happy with my purchase. The only thing I have to complain about is that the subtitles are a pain in the ass to read at times. It's like someone who didn't know english very well wrote them up in a hurry. I mean, I'm used to it NOW, but before I was like wtf. Your mind automatically begins to correct it, so it's fine. And also is it Queen Beryl or Queen Berry? They kept saying Berry and I couldn't stop laughing. It's sounds so weird. And there was an episode where Mamoru went to London to study and his housemate or classmate or whatever knocks on his door to ask him him if he's awake and the guy doesn't have a british accent but an american one . . . . ????? Maybe his friend was from the US, but he also exaggerated every friggin' syllable when he spoke so who really knows.

But anyway . . . that's what I've been doing. Ja ne!

Sailor Moon Live Action

It's no secret that I haven't been into Sailor Moon in years. I don't deny this. And even though I will probably never read a SM fic all the way through again in this lifetime, it doesn't mean that I will never watch the series or read the manga or watch the live action . . . which, if you haven't figured it out, is what this post is all about.

When they came out with the Live Action my first thought was "are you shittin' me!" and not in the good way. I was a bit horrified and I vowed that I would never watch it in fear that it would forever ruin my Sailor Moon obsession. Well seeing as I haven't been obsessed in ages, I thought this would be the perfect time to give it a try. Especially since I watched this video on Youtube . . . . which is really what this post is about.

I love this video. I think it's dramatic and very SM. It makes me want to watch the series at this very moment. If you are/were a Sailor Moon fan, please check this out. Plus, the actor who plays Mamoru is kinda fine. Like P-H-phine. And if you aren't an SM fan, check it out anyway because it's that good.

I love finding things by accident!

FanficRants

Yo! I found this livejournal community called FanficRants and it's literally for ranting. I read through a couple of the posts and it varies from Harry Potter to Anime to Pirates of the Caribbean to everything. Some of them are hilarious. Definitely made me choke a couple of times. One was talking about Draco Malfoy and how authors tend to write him out of character . . .

Draco is a spoiled, pampered, power-obsessed little bitch who bought his way onto the Quidditch team (quite a Slytherin move, if you ask me). He is revolted by mudbloods from years upon years of family influences, which would take a lot more than some quick sucky sucky in the (occupied) Astronomy Tower to repress - and, no, before you ask, full-on buttsex without lube or so much as a quick spit on those takes-half-a-sentence-to-stretch-your-ass-open fingers, will not help much either. As a matter of fact, if Draco were to see Bambie in the forest, he would either run away screaming like the Slytherin pussy we all know and love, or he would suggest Professor Lupin chase after it so Lupin could actually eat for once (and in a SNIDE TONE, not a soft, empathy-laced whisper, "with eyes like gleaming pools of sympathy" - JUST NO).

This is only some of what is said. It's funny, but very true. Read the whole thing here.

NetFlix

I went and signed up for NetFlix. I heard so many great reviews that I figured I'd give it a chance. So far, I'm really loving it. I mainly joined for the anime. I mean, I really can't buy every anime out there. I'm too broke for that, so NetFlix is a great alternative.

I've already ordered Castle in the Sky (which is okay, not better than Spirited Away, but good), Afro Samarai (which is da bomb diggity - I can't believe I just said that) and Gakuen Heaven vol. 1 (which satisfies my yaoi spirit). I want to finish the Gakuen Heaven collection just because I don't like leaving anything unfinished and I also want to see the last 4 volumes of Peach Girl. I actually brought the first 2, so now I just want to finish the series.

I have a couple of J-Horror flicks on my list too. My friend got me into them. A lot of horror movies in the US are based off of them. So it would be interesting to compare.

The only thing is that NetFlix doesn't have the "sensitive pornograph" anime that I want to see. You know, the hardcore Hentai - only because I want to see ALL anime and not just fluff and romance and humor. It gets kind of boring after awhile. Besides I hate being out of the loop. When anime fans talk about this stuff, I want to be able to say "yea, I know what you mean" and then go ahead and give my opinion about it. It's purely for knowledge . . . but, of course, what slashgirl doesn't want to see 2 men getting it on?? I mean, really.

Ah Damn

Don't you hate it when you're on a yahoo group and someone is doing a fic search and as they describe this fic - you think, hey this sounds really good, I think I want to read it too - and when the link is found you go off excited to read it and about 2 or 3 chapters in you're like, what the hell is this shit?

Great plot. Bad writing

Yea . . .

That really sucks.

Gimp

So I went ahead and upgraded my Gimp from 2.0 to 2.4. I actually came across it by accident. On this gimp tutorial site that is ridiculously great and addictive. I found that there are tons of beautiful brushes to download and use.

I now think that wanting Photoshop is a little unnecessary now. Gimp is actually a really good manipulator to have. I didn't realize it before, but now I'm totally hooked. Once I figure out how to make an appropriate wallpaper then I'll be all set. For some reason mine never come out right - they don't show up on my desktop or anything. It's quite annoying really.

As a matter of fact, I think I'll do some research on that now.
