What you discover watching dramas all day

Ok, highlight of the day ....

I'm watching the korean drama, You're Beautiful, and there's this situation where Tae Kyung is sending Mi Nam off at the airport and they get caught on camera so it looks like something more (well, it is, but no one knows of course because Mi Nam is actually a girl posing as her brother). Anyways, he (she) asks Tae Kyung if it would look weird and he says that the fans don't really care about that - that there are love stories (novels) online that feature him in a love triangle with the other band members of A.N.Jell (all guys, might I add) and that they're called Fan-Fics.

and to top it off - the next scene has Jeremy (one of the band members) on the computer actually reading one!

Yea, I couldn't stop laughing after that. Classic.

Just thinking ...

So, apparently I've gotten rehooked on CSI Slash. I don't know where it came from or even why but I'm so not complaining. In fact, I'm thinking about opening a fansite dedicated to my favorite couples (because naturally I can't choose just one). Ok, hear me out because I know what your thinking. I know I still have to get the recommendation sites up and running again, but this could be a really cool project and nobody has this type of site and it could hopefully bring me out of my CSI funk completely. I mean, I could go on and on here.

Hm. Ok, I'm doing it!

Determination is the key

Wow! I haven't updated this in a minute. Sorry - didn't mean to go that long without blogging.

I know what you're thinking - another drama? No, I mean, yes - but I have been doing a lot of other online things this summer besides sit on my ass watching asian dramas. Like I have sat on my ass and gave Bittersweet Symphony a new look AND I've updated several times this month, I must add. I'm determined to keep it as active as possible because it's my baby and I don't want to let it go. So, I've been approaching people, those active within the H/C community and asking them if I could add their works to the site - people like Karli_Meaghan who is a genuis - and others who I thought had really great stuff.

I've also done some graphics of my own. I've been working on my manip skills - rough, but definitely improving - and I've been doing some icons. So, like I said, I'm determined to make this site a success and a haven for all H/C lovers like myself. Especially since the HP fandom has died down so much since the books finished. The shipper sites are dwindling and it's just sad. There were some really good ones that just aren't there anymore. *sighs*

I'm still working on getting Immortalitas and Poeticism finished. Those will take some time, however, and I'm too scatter-brained right now to work on it. I know . . .

Anyways, on a more real-life note, I got a bonus at work this year which is great. Not much of it after all the taxes got taken out, but there's enough to buy a 37' Flat screen TV. What! Sweet!

New Skin and Updates

Hiya! I finally got motivated and decided to create a new skin for my blog. You can thank my fanlisting collective for that as I just added like 4 new fanlistings and then updated the collective with new link me icons and created a new layout for my Mad Martha FL. Yea, I've been busy. I figured let me do as much as I can now that I'm in the mood.

I said that if I created a new skin for Potteritus.net I would include Kim Hyun Joong who is a Korean actor/musician who was in We Got Married and Boys Over Flowers - the love of my life ... well, for the moment anyway. lol.

Anyway I've been obsessed with the repeat-x aspect of designing and so I added one to the skins. I'm slowly going through the site and deleting things that don't need to be here. I deleted the wishlist mainly because I had accomplished just about all of it and I currently don't have anything I want. I put in a new contact form. I completely forgot I was using PHP Mail here when everywhere else I was using a regular php script. Yea, that had to go.

I'm working on getting some new link me icons on here. There are only two right now and it's from the first layout. So, I'll probably do that tonight or tomorrow if I have time. Probably tonight though.

Asian Fanatic

So, just in case you're wondering what rock I've died under I'm actually still going through my asian drama phase. So far, I've watched Soulmate (as you know from my previous post), Boys Over Flowers, Coffee Prince, Full House, and We Got Married. So now I'm obsessed with Kim Hyun Joong who was in Boys Over Flowers and We Got Married and is the leader in SS501 (popular boy band).

Yea, you can expect the next layout to feature him . . . .

..............................

Sorry, reminiscing about him.

I don't know when my internet activity will pick up again as I haven't read any fanfiction either. Can't help it. I have to go where the wind blows apparently. However, I do tend to get tired of new things easily. A couple of weeks ago I was reading manga and watching anime like crazy and now I'm watching Korean Dramas. So random

"Soulmate" indeed!

Ok, I just finished watching probably one of my new favorite series and part of my current obsession with Asian entertainment. The show was called "Soulmate" and is easily accessible on Crunchyroll.com. There are only 22 episodes (24 because the 1st two episodes are 1hr long), but damn were they good. It's a romantic comedy about these groups of people who are all connected (unknowingly) to each other. The two people who are the protagonists pretty much are destined to be together and all that; which is where all the connectivity comes into play.

Normally I can't stand overly romantic shows, and believe me there are parts in there - or I should say people - that have me cringing but not because of the emotions exhibited but because I think the person needs a reality check or something. Great actors though and the main guy Shin Dong-Wook is a fucking hottie. I love his long hair and his smile and damn was he a good actor. Although, I did think having him ALWAYS surprised to see her was annoying. I mean, she works with his girlfriend for christsakes - they're going to run into each other. Now when they started to run into each other through other ways it became really interesting - She dials a random number and it's him! I just ... I'm in love with this series.

The soundtrack I must say is amazing. I've downloaded quite a bit of the music already. Some of the songs I already had because they were from the QAF soundtracks.

I almost wish there was a season 2 just because the ending was so bittersweet. I want to see how their relationship develops because they will so obviously end up together, but I don't necessarily have to. Anyways, the show premiered in 2006. I think it's safe to say that there won't be a season 2.

So now I'm surfing for more asian dramas that I can drown in - preferably ones with my cutie.

I'm Alive!

Hey guys! I am alive. Sorry for not being online for awhile. This month has been stressful as hell. For those of you not aware, my mother is re-locating to Caifornia and because of this I was forced to search for my own place (which is about time really considering that my mother and I depend on each other way too much).

So, as the 15th approached without me finding a suitable (and I say suitable because the housing in NY sucks ass) place to live and I'm sweating buckets because my mother is set to leave on the 30th and I have no place to live. Alas, I managed to find something, but there was drama in that department and I had to go through hell to get the shit right.

As of the 17th I am officially living in Brooklyn. Not the best apartment I could find (and certainly not the cheapest), but it was last minute and I sort of HAD to take it. I mean, I'll see how I feel in a couple of months and when my lease is up, I'll decide if I want to move on or stay.

But, here it is Wednesday and my mother leaves in 2 days and I'm a little anxious and I'm trying not to cry or anything. She's my mother and she won't be just a subway ride away. So yea. Stressing big time and a little sad.

I should be fine on Saturday.

More network updates

Hey ppl! Not much going on here. Still looking for a place. I'm thinking of only looking in Brooklyn so I can eliminate the LIRR completely since friggin' MTA wants to increase the monthly fee AGAIN. Dude, come on!

Anyway - I've re-opened the fanfiction rec site. I changed the name to Immortalitas (it used to be Immortalitas Regnum). I haven't finished uploading all 500 or so recs, though, but I figured it really just needed to come off hiatus. But if you really think about it, it's still on hiatus since I won't be updating it until all recs are uploaded. So, yea . . .

I'm now working on getting Poeticism back up and running. I'm changing the layout now and then I need to transfer all the recs over which won't take very long because unlike Immortalitas, it doesn't have 500 recs. I don't even think there's 100 listed.

I need to also put links up on the main directory (http://recs.potteritus.net) because a lot of people are still linking the old address, so at least this way people will go to the correct address, but will also have the option of reading HP recs as well as the other slash.

But that's about it. Just a lot of network updates.

I didn't update at all last month. I feel dirty. I don't know.

So what's been going on with me? I saw Twilight. Thought it wasn't as good as it could've been, but I couldn't really enjoy it with all the screaming adolescent girls. I mean, can I watch the damn movie? You know who you are . . . but I didn't like Alice. I liked her until she opened her mouth. Hated Jasper. LOVED Emmett. Kristen actually wasn't a bad Bella and there were moments where Rob was right ON with Edward's character and then would do this staring thing that was both creepy and WRONG. So yea, I plan to see the second movie just to see my Jacob. Jury's still out on Taylor, though.

I have been reading a lot of Twilight/Harry Potter crossovers. Slash, of course. Not bad, but I haven't found anything mind-blowing yet.

And on a side note: I finished the skin for the fanlisting collective which just happens to feature Robert & Kristen - which I guess isn't really a side note.

I'm in the process of searching for an apartment. My mother is re-locating to California (again) and I need to find a place. NY is expensive, but I've been finding some really good places in my range that also include all utilities. So, I think I'll be fine. It'll be nice to live on my own. I'm looking forward to it.

But anyway, I'm going to continue to update my sites and ttyl

I haven't read fanfiction in weeks! I know - shock, gasp, oh NO. And the funny thing about it is that I can't remember what I was doing. I HAD to have been doing something to distract me away from peaking through the yahoo groups and livejournal postings that continually pop up in my email. I did notice that there were tons of Harry/Cedric fiction posted last month. And did I read any of them? NO. Do I still love Harry/Cedric or Harry/Ron? Hell YES.

So what was I doing?!!!!

[EDIT] Oh OH. I was creating layouts on my new computer. THAT'S what i was doing! lol. Totally forgot

On a side note though not unrelated to the venting above, I just finished the new layout for Bittersweet Symphony. Absolutely beautiful I must say. I ahven't uploaded it to the site yet, but I added something to the navigation. It's the current projects section where I list one latest project of Daniel Radcliffe and Robert Pattinson's. This is as "shrine-ish" as it's going to get though. I don't want my fansite to be about the actors, but I thought it would be nice to include them a little bit. You will not be seeing any galleries in the future so you can relax, or well, I can relax. lol.

I'd just like to say that I love Gimp, but I did notice that the images don't come out as CLEAN as when they're manipulated using Photoshop. Hm.

Revamping in motion

Well, I've finally gotten started on the revamping, my blog being the first to get a new look. I haven't changed the layout or anything because I still haven't gotten my new computer - well, actually I did get it but the fucker was defective so I had to make arrangements with Dell to send me another one . . . a story I'd rather avoid because it only pisses me off.

Ok. So, no new layouts right now. I did, however, re-format the navigation. I got rid of some links, shifted things around a bit, and put my friends in a drop down menu. There is only 1 navigation now instead of my usual 2. Which means that I had to update the skins too. So those are back up and running smoothly.

I also made some room for Twilight. Look at my SOTM and the webmistress section. What can I say . . . I'm not sure if this will be anything like Harry Potter - websites galore - but it was a great read and so I'm allowed to pimp it. lol. Especially with the movie right around the corner. Woohoo!

I'm still revamping this site, but you'll know the changes when you see them. And so now I'm off to finish IR, because I've promised myself to get back up next month. Wish me luck :-)

Twilight Series

This is currently my new obsession. I wasn't sure I'd be able to find anything like Harry Potter - you know, something that would keep my interest long enough to read all the books in the series. Well, I've found it.

It started with a movie preview and boy did it progress! Not only was I like, "Hey there's Cedric Diggory on the telly!" - well, okay. Maybe I didn't say that excatly. It was more like, "yo, ain't that Cedric?" but you get the gist. Anyway, apparently Robert Pattinson is starring in a new film called Twilight. I never heard of it, of course, but damn is it popular. I was curious and decided to read it. Then the next day I went out and bought the 2nd book and well, I bought the 3rd one this morning.

So it's safe to say that I love it. Yes. very much so. It's nothing like Harry Potter, but just as fascinating. And I've never been into the vampire/werewolf genre, but damn is it good. Except of course in 2nd book where Bella really got on my nerves. And God! I really really love Jacob. I have a feeling there's going to a be a triangle there . . . . and I just don't know who I like more. Sad, really. Jacob or Edward? Jacob or Edward? I don't know!!!!

I may like it enough to give it a subject in my blog . . . hm. This is so exciting!

I will be closing 2 of my sites. Both are web directories. It hurts to have to do this, but I figured that I really needed and wanted to concentrate on what means the most - to concentrate on my passion. So, unfortunately those need to go. Whether I will completely delete them or hand them off to someone who will want to run it, I guess depends on who responds. I doubt anyone will since there is nothing special about them. But whatever.

I will then finish revamping IR so that I can get that back up and running. It will take some time - I know this. I'm not in denial or anything. lol.

I then need to start updating BS because that's my baby and I miss working on it.

and then I will start adding layouts to MC - another babyof mine.

So, yea. lot of things to do. Pray for me!

Gary aka Warrick

Have you heard? Gary Dourdan aka Warrick Brown is said to be leaving CSI . . . for good.

First he was picked up on drug possession, but now it turns out his contract is expiring in May and that he won't be renewing it.

I just want to scream. NOT MY WARRICK! He's the reason I watch CSI. Just a glimpse of him - doesn't matter how small - sets my blood on FIYA! He can't leave. That would be terrible.

There are hardly any black actors on the damn show as it is - and definitely none that are cute.

Man. This sucks! This just ruined my whole day.

I'm gonna go curl up in a ball and cry.

Paradigm of Uncertainty

Has anyone read this series? I'm sure that if you have been in the Harry Potter fandom for awhile, you certainly have. It's probably the only Het story that I plan to read to the very end.

Anyway, on the yahoo group, Lori told everyone that there was a possibility that updates would slow or not come at all, etc etc. A lot of readers had heart attacks and a lot of them didn't (I was one of those who didn't). But you wouldn't believe the comments that were left . . . Now being a fanfiction writer, I'm personally offended and I want to give Lori a hug (but I can't because I'm a big ass lurker) because how dare they bash her for doing such a thing - like having a life doesn't matter because she has an obligation to finish a WIP. I mean, damn, we're not paying her. It's a hobby for christ's sake!

Now there's someone on there saying that they will finish the series and shower it with the attention that it deserves. Can you say ouch. I'm sorry - no one can finish the series but Lori and if I have to wait 15 years for my ending, then damnit, that's what I'm going to do. Not to say that said person isn't a great writer (I don't know since I haven't read anything he/she wrote), but don't you think that's a little rude? Telling Lori, that the ball is in her court? I'm just baffled.

I'm too disgusted to read anymore of it.

And just for the record, it's not even that damn serious! Shit happens. Some stories are left unfinished. Let it go people.

Immortalitas

Okay, so as a follow up to my last post .... I did put IR on hiatus. I'm going to move everything over to fanupdate. This I found to be so kool because now one fic can be in more than one category, which was never an option on SimpleDir.

It looks so much cleaner. I only have 50 recs moved over ... with 450 more to go. Oh god.

I haven't started working on a new layout, but I'm thinking about taking down the site skin option. Seeing as I want to change the site name to just "Immortalitas" I'm going to need to. I'm really going to miss that Harry/Draco one, though, and it sucks because I can't upload it to Magical Coupling because the fanart isn't mine. damn. This is why I'm still deciding if I'm even going to do this. I do't like throwing things away.

I've been thinking again - which is never a good thing.

I might change the script over at Immortalitas Regnum to FanUpdate just because the security is so much cleaner than simpledir. The only challenge is that I have over 500 recommendations and I don't know if I have the strength to sit there are move everything over.

*sighs*

On the bright side - this may be the thing I need to get motivated again. I haven't updated anything really since I added skins to the BSA.

Writer's block. Designer's block. Just can't get break.
